She's a driving force behind the effort to end homelessness in La Crosse.
For that effort, Sister Karen Neuser of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration is February's recipient of the Jefferson Award. Sister Karen is the first to say the effort is the result of a lot of good people, organizations and sponsors.
Along with the development of a new warming shelter where people can stay during the night, and a hospitality house where they can go during the day, the La Crosse Collaborative to End Homelessness has made a lot of progress.
Mayor Tim Kabat says, for example, since the project began 100 people have found permanent housing.
If you know someone who provides extraordinary service to the community, please consider nominating them for a Jefferson Award.
