Win or lose, the G-E-T/Mel-Min wrestling program will make history when they take the mat at the WIAA State Team Tournament this weekend.
The Titans qualified for the first time as a co-op.
They're putting in final preparations this week for their division 2 semifinal dual with Luxemburg-Casco.
The Titans fared well at the Bi-State Classic and later won a tight sectional championship over Lodi.
So it's already been a magical run for this team.
"It feels good knowing we're accomplishing the growth we wanted. Our kids are getting better every year. Our kids are going to camps and those types of things. So it's paying off. We've been doing this a lot of years so we're starting to see that each year. This is a nice goal for us. The kids are excited. Some are more focused on Team State than their Individual State. The idea that we're going as a team is really fueling these kids," said co-head coach Pete Peterson.
"My biggest expectation is to just go out there and wrestle how we wrestle. If we do it that way then we're going to win. I have no doubt in my mind we can't beat these teams and bring home a state title for our school," said senior heavyweight Joshua Marciulionis.
Saturday's semifinals start at 10 AM at the UW Field House in Madison.
Championship are later that day at 3 PM.
