The Diocese of La Crosse celebrates 150 years of service in the area this year with what it is calling the "Sesquicentennial of Faith".
Since 1868 the Diocese has served 19 counties in Western and Central Wisconsin.
Throughout this year the Diocese will hold events to celebrate with each community they serve.
Focusing on the lessons they've learned during their first 150 years, with the people that made those years possible.
"These are families who have established themselves in this diocese. There are people who have been ... in this part of the country for 150 years. So we are going to try and connect the best we can," Bishop for the Diocese of La Crosse William Patrick Callahan elaborates.
"They are the ones who bring the gospel. It's not just a matter of coming to church on Sunday and sitting there and being preached to or sung to or whatever it may be, but that they are the ones that are involved with the actual bringing to life the teachings of Jesus Christ," Bishop Callahan concludes on the reasoning behind celebrating with the community.
Celebrations start this Saturday, March 3, at Saint Gabriel Catholic Church in Prairie Du Chien, the first church in the Diocese of La Crosse.
