Like Weather? Learn how to become NWS Severe Weather Spotter

Posted: Updated:

Keeping people safe when severe weather strikes is a team effort. Forecasting and tracking severe thunderstorms and issuing watches and warnings by the National Weather Service are important components of the system. The StormTracker 19 Forecast team and other media outlets are also key to reliably forecasting and getting the information out to the public, but there's another very important part of the system; severe weather spotters. If you'd like to be a part of this safety net, here's your chance to learn more and potentially be a spotter.

The La Crosse National Weather Service is holding a series of spotter training sessions for each county over the next month and a half. There are even online sessions. They are free and open to the public lasting about 2 hours per session with no need to pre-register. For more information check out the La Crosse National Weather Service at https://www.weather.gov/arx/skywarn_schedule
