BARABOO, Wis. (WXOW) - -

The Aquinas girls basketball team took on #2 Cambridge and for the first four minutes of the game, it was close.  By the end of the first half, it was Aquinas leading 43-17.  The Blugolds kept up the pressure and the pace across the entire game.  On offense, sophomore Lexi Donarski was able to hit plenty of outside shots, while senior Madessa Collins and junior Libby Hlavacka were able to score on some inside moves.

Blugold defense didn't give the Cambridge team many open shot opportunities or trips to the free throw line.   In the end, it proved too much for the Blue Jays.

"We did what we wanted to do," said Coach Dave Donarski.  He was proud of what his team was able to do on both offense and defense considering the competition.

"That's a good basketball team we just played," he added.

Madessa Collins was proud and happy of her team's effort.

"It's amazing and it's fun to have with all of your teammates there.  It's awesome," she said.

Final score - Aquinas Blugolds 86, Cambridge Blue Jays 33
