Changes coming for those who receive WXOW via antenna: What you need to know

Posted: Updated:

Changes are coming for those of you who receive WXOW and other local television stations using an antenna.

NOTE: If you watch TV through a cable or satellite service, you do not need to rescan. Your service provider will do it for you.

In order to keep watching your channels, you will need to rescan your TV or converter box when your TV stations change frequencies. Because stations are required to move at different times, you may need to rescan more than once.

Our Rescan Day is planned for May 31 at 11 a.m. You will need to rescan your TV on that date when we move to a new frequency. Once you rescan, you’ll still find us at the same place on channels: WXOW-19.1, La Crosse-Eau Claire CW-19.2, and Decades-19.3.

Select "scan" or "autotune" from your TV or converter box control menu to start the scanning process. You can usually find instructions by pressing the "set-up" or "menu" buttons on your television or digital antenna remote control. If you have difficulty, consult the owner's manual for more detailed instructions on how to run a channel scan, or contact customer service for your TV or converter box manufacturer. Once your rescan is complete you will still find your favorite stations on the same channel number as before.

Again, if you watch TV through a cable or satellite service, you do not need to rescan. Your service provider will do it for you.

Watch the video with this story or visit www.TVAnswers.org for more information on rescanning. Make a plan to rescan!
