Aquinas, G-E-T, BRF among schools moving in WIAA football conference shuffle

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -
Starting with the 2019 season, Aquinas will no longer play football in the Mississippi Valley Conference (MVC) as the WIAA gives a facelift to several conferences.
The Blugolds are just one of several area teams moving around after Tuesday's 6-5 realignment vote by the WIAA that also breaks up the Coulee Conference.
The WIAA voted to approve the proposed configurations they released earlier, seen below.
Aquinas goes from the MVC to as yet to be named conference that includes schools with similar enrollment numbers. Onalaska Luther, along with perennial football powers Darlington, Cuba City, and Lancaster, will play in that conference.
The MVC will shrink to seven schools with the move.
Splitting up the Coulee Conference, the WIAA paired Arcadia, Westby, and Viroqua in an eight-team conference that includes Prairie du Chien, Platteville, and Dodgeville.
G-E-T and Black River Falls move into a conference with Wisconsin Dells, Mauston, and Nekoosa.
