Free Comic Day coming to La Crosse

La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -

The first Saturday of every May is Free Comic Book Day, and Deaf Ear Records in La Crosse looks to help people add to their collections or start their own.

Every year comic book distributors supply select stores with free comics to give away. Titles include newly released issues along with some of the more well-known stories.

With a broad range of comics to choose from, people of all ages can find something that interests them.

"No matter when you were born or how old you are, the battle of good versus evil is always something that's easy to get into," Jesse Hart of Deaf Ear Records continues, "So just reading something like that it's simple, it doesn't matter if you're 90 or nine."

The event aims to bring more people into local stores to discover the hobby and possibly learn more about their favorite comic-inspired movies.

"You have a better understanding of what these characters are thinking internally because you have more of the thought bubbles going on. An actor can convey that in certain ways, but comics can get you a lot further and deeper into what characters are thinking and where they want to go from there," Hart concludes.

Deaf Ear Records will offer each person five free comics while supplies last.
