Wisconsin is known for their beer, and on Saturday the reputation continued with the La Crosse Beer and Brewery Collectors Show.
The event brings collectors together to display their beer related items or search for something new. Featuring memorabilia from brews made all over the world and pieces that illustrate the area's rich history of beer, the show is about more than drinking.
Event organizers work to teach people about the factors that helped to make La Crosse the city it is today.
"La Crosse was a huge brewing center and with the timber industry here there were a lot of people working in the timber industry, and those guys like to drink beer," Show Organizer Paul Nelson elaborates, "so that lead to a number of brewers also setting up shop in La Crosse and as the timber industry flourished so did the brewers."
A highlight of the show is what collectors call Breweriana, a form of advertising that further exhibits Wisconsin's beer culture.
"Every small town in Wisconsin just about had their own brewery and they each had their own method of advertising their product. Some of them were quite clever, some of them very graphically pleasing, it's those items that bring us together," Nelson finishes.
If you missed the show this year, mark your calendars for the first Saturday in May of next year.
