2017 was a record year for La Crosse County tourism spending.
$263.8 million dollars were spent in La Crosse County last year. That's an increase of $15.8 million from the year before, marking continued steady growth in spending over the past five years.
Explore La Crosse Executive Director AJ Frels says that's attributed to strong community partnerships.
"The hotels, the restaurants, the shops, the arts... it all works together," Frels said. "We have to have all of those elements to attract people and to be able to accomplish numbers like this."
La Crosse ranks #9 of 72 counties for tourism spending behind Outagamie County in the #8 spot and ahead of Eau Claire County coming in at #10. Milwaukee County ranks first in the state.
