MADISON (WKOW) -- Work crews today slowly lifted a 138-ton steel tank into place at the new Blackhawk Water Tower near the corner of Old Sauk and Junction roads. The job took about three hours for a jack system to push the million-gallon tank to the top of the tower.
A time-lapse camera captured the move.
On Wednesday, a large crane will lift the steel roof 150 feet into place at the top of the tower.
Blackhawk Water Tower is a $3.6 million infrastructure project to bring more water and better fire protection to Madison’s far west side. The million-gallon reservoir and supporting water mains should be complete and in service this fall.
