Students in the Architecture Construction Engineering (ACE) Academy at Central High School completed the building of their first house and held an open house Wednesday morning.
The turnout had the house full of guests anxious to see everything the home at 2922 22nd St. S. has to offer.
It is a three bedroom and two bathroom family home. Thirty-eight seniors from the ACE Academy worked in partnership with local contractors to complete this project. Robert Fitzpatrick, a senior at Central, says, "It's crazy to think that it was just all high schoolers that built this, except for a couple things done by contractors. It's rewarding to know it was us that did it; that I had a part in building this. It's good for the community and that's rewarding to me."

Students from last year's senior class and also the current senior class tag teamed on completing the project. Robert adds, "This is the first time that Central has actually built a house from start to finish. It start with last years senior class. They framed the house and did the roofing and stuff. Then, this years class built the garage and did the interior work and siding on the house."
It will be listed for $160,000. It is to be purchased by a family earning eighty percent or less of the county median income.
