One non-profit organization in the La Crosse community celebrated a milestone on Thursday morning.
Members of GROW La Crosse presented their 1,000th garden lesson since the organization started five years ago. It happened at State Road Elementary School, just one school to partner with GROW La Crosse through a garden and programming.
Those with the non-profit say they have seen kids get excited about gardening over the years.
"It's been fun to see the progression over the last few years," said Kari Bersagel Braley, Program Director with GROW La Crosse. "And, they love it. They love getting their hands dirty, and they love being able to be investigators."
Bersagel Braley says it is about teaching the kids to be scientists, observing and experimenting in the garden.
She says watching the plants grow and harvesting them makes the kids more willing to try new things.
