Holmen students received a special treat Friday for lunch.
In honor of the seniors, students at Holmen High School enjoyed a steak, shrimp and vegetable feast today. All of the food for lunch was locally produced. Students enjoyed grilled asparagus grown by the Holmen FAA, and Wisconsin baked potatoes.
The meal celebrates the end of the school year and recognizes the accomplishments of the graduating seniors. Senior Jeremiah Boardman says this is a great way to honor his fellow seniors, "A lot of other schools don't usually do this for their seniors so having an awesome meal with steak and fresh asparagus and having a bunch of different food varieties to celebrate the seniors moving on is pretty special."
Nutrition services supervisor Michael Gasper says today is also special for the people who serve the food, "These kids have been here for 12 years. A lot of them we know in and out. They know our lunch ladies and that and its just kind of fun to be able to put something on that is special for them and my staff absolutely loves doing these kinds of things for them and I think it makes them feel good when they see the smiles on their faces."
More than 700 steaks were served today for the Holmen High School students.
