It's a make or break weekend for the UW-La Crosse baseball team hoping to land an at-large berth into the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
To do so, they'll need a good showing in their four-game series with UW-Whitewater.
The Warhawks are the top-ranked team in the nation, making it a tough task for the Eagles.
UW-L comes in with a 13-7 record in conference play.
Head coach Chris Schwarz thinks it will take two or three wins to get that NCAA bid.
For now, they're just grateful to have a chance.
"There's a lot of teams in the country playing this weekend with nothing at stake. We get a chance to play for something at the end of the season. We'd rather be in this position controlling our own destiny. We've got to win a couple of game and we get to go as opposed to watching the scoreboard of other teams playing," Schwarz said.
"Postseason baseball is fun. This is what we've been working for, trying to get to the postseason and keep on going. It's fun coming to the ball park having something to play for. Some other teams don't have anything to play for this weekend, so it's fun coming to the ball park with something to play for," said senior catcher Nate Roethle.
There are doubleheaders scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday at Copeland Park.
Saturday's games start at 1 PM and Sunday's at noon.
