Mayor Tim Kabat has officially declared this week Salvation Army week for La Crosse.
The goal of Salvation Army week is to celebrate and honor all employees and volunteers from the past, present and future.
Major Jeff Richardson says that this is a great opportunity for the public to learn more about the Salvation army. "Well it's a significant achievement to garner the attention of the city. To realize the city sees us as a partner here in La Crosse serving those who are less fortunate," said Richardson.
The Salvation Army is hosting daily events this week that are open to the public.
Tuesday: Trivia at the Thrift Store 10am - 4pm
Wednesday: Community Center Open House 9am - 11am
Thursday: Red Shield Night at the Cargill Room-featuring a performance by the local band "Sellout" from 6pm - 9pm
