The UW-La Crosse women's 4X100 relay team entered Saturday's finals as the last qualifying team. A team comprised of Beth Harlos, Clair Shepardson, Savannah Rygiewicz, and Brittany Jaeger.
With Rygiewicz at anchor, she crossed the line in 6th place with a final time of 47:16.
" All I remember is I saw a little rusty hand off at our third one so it kind of made me nervous, but I heard Clair yelling at me right as she was coming in, and I knew this was go time," Rygiewicz said. " Right when I got the baton, we had a clean hand-off, and I felt good along the straight, and I knew we deserved to be on that podium."
" One of the teams had messed up their first hand-off, and I was back there with them, and I was like oh my gosh that means that we are in 8th right now essentially," Harlos said. " Then just seeing everyone come down the straight away, I was like wow we are really competing for this. We weren't just just straggling behind, we were really doing it."
