The Wildcat girls are headed back to state after a 4-1 victory over Seneca in sectionals held at Royall High School in Elroy. Two runs in the 2nd inning coming from Cierra Curran and Emma Johnson. Two more added in the 5th from Ari Charles and Katrina Keller off a hit from McKenna Nehring.
Seneca senior Alivia Salinas scored the Indians only run of the game, running home after a missed catch at third base.
Blair-Taylor head coach Greg Bratina says after struggling in the first half of the season, he's impressed with how well the team found their rhythm.
"We just kind of relaxed and went one game at a time," Bratina said. "I'm just so proud of the way the girls reacted and how they handled it. What a team!"
Pitcher Lauren Steien says the return trip is giving the team some extra excitement.
"Now that we're going, I think that everyone is just extra pumped," Steien said. "I mean, to go back to state two years in a row, it's just crazy, it's surreal right now."
Blair-Taylor is headed to Madison, they will play on Friday, June 8.
