Salvation Army honors first responders on National Donut Day
La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -
The Salvation Army stopped in Shelby this morning on National Donut Day.
The event is designed to recognize first responders and their service to their communities. The Salvation Army also made stops and deliveries across La Crosse County. Stops included Onalaska, Holmen, West Salem, and Bangor.
National Donut Day started in 1938 in Chicago as a tribute to The Salvation Army “Doughnut Lassies” who supported our troops on the front lines during World War I. It is celebrated annually on the first Friday in June.
