The pending arrival of summer means people tend to get out on the bicycles, but biking advocates hope people will consider biking for more than just exercise.
It's Wisconsin Bike Week, encouraging residents to think about biking to work or for transportation instead of using their cars.
Advocates say La Crosse offers many opportunities for those to ride their bikes, with bike paths and trails throughout the city. The change of routine can be overcome.
"Riding a bike is a little bit different than driving in a car," Wisconsin Bicycle Federation Southwest Region Director Carolyn Dvorak said. "You choose the roads and routes that are just one street off of the main drag, road and routes parallel to where all the traffic travels."
They also say biking can also be a stress reliever for after having a tough day. You can find more events for bike week by going here.
