Sending athletes to the Minnesota State Track Meet is nothing new for La Crescent.
This is the 18th year in a row the Lancers will have athletes competing.
Two boys relays teams, the 4 by 800 and 4 by 400, along with Payton Dryden in the girls discus all qualified.
Also back is Matt Steiger, who has the top qualifying time in both the 1600 and 3200 in Class A.
Steiger already owns a state cross country title on his high school resume.
Friday and Saturday, he'll try to add to his illustrious career.
"Basically, it comes to being consistent and making sure that you have quality workouts. Throughout the winter I made sure to stay consistent and increase my mileage from what I've done in the past, which wasn't a whole more, but just being consistent about it," Steiger said.
"A lot of times he was winning 1600's by 45 seconds to a minute. So, I think it will be fun for him to finally have some competition where he doesn't have to carry the load of a race all by himself," said La Crescent Track Coach Mark Abraham.
The MSHSL State Meet is at Hamline University in St. Paul.
