La Crosse, WI (WXOW) -
Badgerland Girl Scouts and the La Crosse County Dairy Promotion Committee have teamed up for the first time to provide 1,128 boxes of cookies and half gallons of milk to food pantries across La Crosse County. The partnership is a result of a Girl Scout Cookie philanthropy initiative called Cookie Share, which allows cookie customers to donate their cookie purchases to Girl Scout troops who can distribute the cookies to various charities.
This year, 93 Girl Scout Scout troops in the area donate their cookies to local food pantries with the knowledge that each book would be matched by the Dairy Promotion Committee with a half-gallon of milk. Troops donated cookies to seven local food pantries:
First Free Church in Onalaska
Saint Elizabeth Food pantry in Holmen
Hunger Task Force of La Crosse
La Crosse Salvation Army Food Pantry
Onalaska Food Basket
Girl Scouts of Wisconsin - Badgerland Council serves 23 counties in south-central and southwest Wisconsin as well as Houston County in Minnesota and Allamakee County in Iowa.
