Area singers, songwriters, and musicians came out in full swing Wednesday for Songwriters Night at The Verse Lounge and Grill. Many of them were hoping to share their songs and stories with fans who quickly filled the bar.
But on this Songwriters Night, there was a little something extra.
Stan Hitchcock, classic country music artist and member of Country Music Television's founding team, was featured later in the night.
Hitchcock shared not only music but his story, dating back 60 years.
86-year-old Hitchcock had plenty of wisdom for everyone listening.
"Stick with it. Don't give up," Hitchcock said. "Some of the greatest songs ever written have been written by people who thought they had their last idea, but [then] they come up with one more."
Songwriters Night, also known as Songwriters Corner, is now in its 26th year.
The event is now hosted at The Verse on the second Wednesday of every month.
