IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - The son and boss of an Iowa grandmother charged in a 1992 homicide say they're stunned by her arrest and confident that she's not the killer.

Authorities charged 55-year-old Annette Cahill two weeks ago with first-degree murder in the beating death of her friend Corey Wieneke of West Liberty.

They say the charge came after a new witness came forward against Cahill, who's jailed on a $1 million bond.

Cahill has worked since 2009 as a proofreader at the Police Law Institute, which provides online training for police officers. Her boss, David Oliver, said her arrest came as a "complete and utter shock" because "this is not the person that I know." He called Cahill "very pro-law enforcement."

Cahill's son, Jon McCrabb, recently started a GoFundMe campaign to help her legal defense. He says there's "no doubt in any of our minds that she didn't do this."
