La Crosse's north side has seen large revitalization efforts over the last few years.
One local business says they can see the benefits of the cities work first hand.
The Verse Lounge and Grill opened two years ago on Rose Street, hoping to be a hub for local musicians.
The owners, Julie and Jeff Connelly, say when they first opened their doors, there was not a single customer.
Fast forward two years and their business is now full almost every night.
"Part of the revitalization is making this a stopping point for the community," said owner Julie Connelly. "Bring people from the north side, the south side, all to this central location to do some shopping, learn some of the history of La Crosse, and that money is staying here in our community."
Julie is hopeful the area will be able to maintain it's historic integrity with the recent economic boost.
"It's taking the history but carrying it on to their future. We need our future children and families to keep the passion of the north side and what it means to them."
Business owners on La Crosse's north side are able to join the North La Crosse Business Association, something the Connelly's say helped them renew the integrity of their storefront.
