The heat advisory on Sunday put a little damper on the return of Jazz in the Park, but not even heat can stop music filling the air.
The 44th season of Jazz in the Park kicked off in the Cavalier Theater and Lounge.
Over 100 people filled the seats to listen to the sounds of trumpets, trombones and saxophones play music from many decades.
Some members celebrate nearly 40 years playing in the La Crosse Jazz Orchestra, while for others it's their first.
"It's fabulous we like to see it more and more," Director of Jazz in the Park Greg Balfany describes, "you know the school programs are so good in this region. We've got some young upcoming musicians. We hope to see them involved in this project down the road. You know somebody has to take over for all of us," Balfany finishes.
The concert series returns June 26 with Moon Toons in Riverside Park.
