La Crosse Parks and Recreation officials look towards the next phase of updating the La Crosse Municipal Harbor.
At Monday's public discussion, the city looked for feedback from lease holders at the harbor for current and future projects. A big focus currently is getting a water system installed. Superintendent Jay Odegaard says boaters also asked for a toilet and shower building to be installed on the land.
Odegaard explains that comes after installing the water system.
"The bathroom and the shower building is our number one priority," he said. "We are actually currently looking at the different designs to kind of get a scope on the project. Once we have that completed, then we will have to evaluate the funding."
This plays an important role in updating the entire Isle La Plume area.
"We really want to put together a very nice marina that's enjoyable, but safe for slip holders while at the same time we want have a park atmosphere in the surrounding area that all La Crosse residents can come and appreciate," he added.
Odegaard hopes to develop a working group, where boaters from the marina will meet with the recs department to talk about projects and be a voice for the boating community.
He says discussion on the harbor will continue at next Thursday's Park Board meeting.
