Logan craft show attracts vendors, big crowds

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – After canceling the past three Logan High School Craft Shows, vendors and the general public were itching to get back to normal with what turned out to be a popular event Saturday.

The Logan Fall Craft Show, which was held at Logan High School, attracted more than 150 vendors and attracted the largest crowd in many years.

In most years, the show attracts about 200 people but organizers this year said that number is easily three times that number.

Kris Greany, coordinator of the show, said she credits the outstanding vendor list for bringing so many people to the event.

“When we were looking at the list of vendors, I mean, there was everything from Alpaca to woodworking and so who doesn’t want to get their Christmas shopping done in October,” said Kris Greany, coordinator of the craft show.

The show offered a wide range of homemade items including soaps, candies and baked goods. There was also photography from the area and a number of jewelry booths all with finely made products.

“It’s just the fact that it’s people who have used their hands and talents to make these things and then it’s the pride in what they’ve created,” Greany said.

For many of the vendors, being able to sell their wares is not just good for their pocketbook, it was also an uplifting experience to see such a large crowd at the school.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before,” David Zander said as he took in the crowd. “Really, it’s great and people spending money and people are looking. There are groups of people here together and just making a day of it. They’re having fun.”

Zander, who runs DMZ Jewelry, makes jewelry out of beach glass, beach stones and driftwood from the Great Lakes and Mississippi River region.

The craft shows are fundraisers for Logan High School’s scholarship program.
