WI COVID-19 Update
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - Wisconsin's Department of Health Services provided an update on COVID-19 cases across the state on Wednesday.
Health officials said a spike in COVID-19 cases is putting a serious strain on the state's healthcare system. They voiced concern that the strain could be challenging as we head into a busy cold and flu season.
"We need everyone's support to flatten the curve as much as we can," Dr. Ryan Westergaard said. "Get vaccinated if you're not vaccinated, get your booster dose if you haven't gotten your booster dose, to get your influenza vaccine, and continue to pay attention to ways we can prevent the spread of respiratory viruses that include the flu and COVID."
During Wednesday's virtual briefing, officials confirmed that over 550,000 Wisconsin residents have received their COVID-19 booster shot.
