Medical Monday: Emotions and heart health

(WXOW) – It’s considered a heart-warming time of year, but when emotions run high, that could have consequences for your cardiac health. We have a “heart to heart” with Gundersen Health cardiologist Dr. Sampoornima Setty in this Medical Monday.

While there’s correlation between emotional extremes and heart health, Dr. Setty said the jury is still out ultimately how it affects the physiology of the muscle. It appears, however, this sort of excitement, whether negative or positive, can create mini heart-attack conditions, much like what’s portrayed in the movies.
