Walz and Pawlenty Get Booster Shot

Governor Tim Walz announced that Minnesota is now third in the country for the percentage of fully vaccinated adults with COVID-19 booster doses.

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WXOW) - Governor Tim Walz announced that Minnesota is now third in the country for the percentage of fully vaccinated adults with COVID-19 booster doses.

The announcement came as Governor Walz, former Governor Tim Pawlenty, and Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm received their booster doses on Tuesday.

Back in March, Walz received a single shot of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, again alongside Pawlenty. The two of them continue to encourage Minnesotans to get vaccinated.

"Minnesotans are hearing the information and they know that this gives you broader based protection," Governor Walz said. "Especially for our seniors and for all the rest of us to just get broader protection, especially while we are still in the midst of this Delta surge."

According to the CDC, Minnesota has administered booster doses to 10.8% of fully vaccinated adults, that is second only to Alaska and Vermont.
