LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) - "A Complicated Loss" is an opportunity for people who've lost family members, partners or friends to drug and alcohol abuse.

The Coulee Recovery Center and Franciscan Spirituality Center partnered to create and facilitate the safe space for those trying to find others who can relate to their situation.

"People either respond very compassionately, supportively or sometimes they get uncomfortable because substance abuse disorder is uncomfortable for people in our community as well as nationwide," Coulee Recovery Center Executive Director Cheryl Hancock said. "So just the general discussion of that can be uncomfortable for them."

It's an eight week program every Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Coulee Recovery Center starting December 1.

The program costs $5 to participate in.

Hancock said eight people have signed up so far.
