Leaf collection starts Monday in La Crosse

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – The City of La Crosse will start collecting leaves from city boulevards Monday, October 25th.

The city will have five crews picking up leaves through November 19th.

Under the city’s plans, the crews will each cover sections of the city. Each will work their way through their section. Once completed, they will move to assist another section until the entire city has been covered. Each will then go back to their individual sections and the process will start over again.

The city’s Refuse and Recycling Department is asking local residences to rake leaves into a pile on the boulevard. Do not rake the leaves into the street or gutter to prevent clogging of storm drains.

Residents are also asked not to rake the leaves around tress or poles and do not have branches or other objects mixed in with the leaves. If other objects are found with the leaves, the leaves will be left behind, the city said in a news release.

The collection will not coincide with the garbage pickup.
