Veterans Bonanza offers assistance to area vets

LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) – Services available to area veterans was on display Saturday at the Fifth Annual Veterans Bonanza.

The event, which took place at the La Crosse Center, is designed as a way for veterans to learn more about some of the assistance that is available to them.

Adam Flood, La Crosse County Veterans Services Officer, stressed that the one stop would not be enough to line up everything a veteran needs but it is a good place to start.

“The event, in a way, is too long for a veteran really to have that one-on-one moment in order to fully understand how the benefit applies to them,” Flood said. “It’s a great starting point but I hope it’s never the end of the conversation and that the end conversation happens somewhere else so that the veteran really fully understands what’s available.”

Among the services that were available were healthcare, employment retirement and disability services.

Flood said there were about 60 different vendors at Saturday’s event.
