La Crosse, WI. (WXOW) -- Viterbo University opened its new Military Aligned Student Center on Tuesday.
Located in the Reinhart Center, the space is a resource for any military students and their families to use to further their education.
A prayer and blessing started off the ceremony followed by the origins and hopes for the program from university officials. The ribbon cutting of the center closed the ceremony.
"The thing we wanted to do here at Viterbo University is give back to our veterans and their family members in some small way," director for the Military Aligned Student Support and Recruitment Keith Purnell said. "That community has contributed so much and sacrificed so much for our country. One of the things we wanted to do was give back in terms of providing a place where they could get a quality education."
The university stated that the center's numbers have almost tripled since the program started. With the new resources, they hope to see continued growth with those numbers in the future.
