La Crosse, Wis. (WXOW) The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is mourning the loss of another legendary head coach.
Bill Terry passed away at his residence in La Crosse.
Terry had a major impact on a variety of things.
He was UW-L's baseball coach for 11 seasons from 1969 to 1979 winning 199 games and reaching the playoffs 6 times.
Bill Terry also played a huge role in saving the Eagles baseball program leading a fundraising effort in 2010 to keep the program alive after the school planned to cut it.
It has flourished since.
Terry also was instrumental in bringing the WIAA State Track Meet to La Crosse in 1990 and served as the on-site coordinator for the first three years.
Bill Terry was 90 years old.
